MLC 'STARS' IN HISTORY CHANNEL PRODUCTION

"The Men Who Built America" is an eight-part docudrama miniseries for the History Channel that chronicles the industrialization of America after the Civil War until about 1910.

It follows in particular the lives of the "robber barons" like Vanderbilt & Rockefeller and includes the men who worked for them, and also describes the growth of a national identity.

The New York-based production company is selecting scenes from this period and re-enacting them, and asked to film some scenes at Mountain Lake Club. Their first day on-site began at

6 a.m. on November 4th, 2011. ending at 5 a.m. on November 5th.

The crew warmed up and dined on catered meals in our clubhouse as the night wore on.

"We secure all necessary permits" explained Rebecca Puck Stair, the entertainment company's Location Manager, "and we work with the neighbors to minimize disruptions."

MLC and the filmmaker are working with the full cooperation of the WV Film Office.

Just over an hour from the nation's capital city, MLC is on the closest mountain to Washington, DC. It is separated from Virginia by the Appalachian Trail at its very top, and meandering along its base, you'll find the storied Shenandoah River. And it's easily accessed from Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky and Virginia!

From Charles Town, take Route 9 E to Mission Road. Right on Mission Road about 3 miles to Upper Clubhouse Drive. Turn left and drive around the lake. You will see the clubhouse and beach area from the causeway.

From Leesburg & points east, take Route 7 W to Route 9 W, cross into WV, pass Blue Ridge Elementary School, take a left on Mission Road. Then follow the above directions.

MLC'S 55-acre lake is fed by cool, clear mountain streams. It's 80-feet deep in places ... and boasts great fishing: bass & trout pre-eminent!

Fishing is catch & release.

This is a sport-fishing lake, meant to be kept full of fish for the love of the sport...

NOTE: MLC is just

1/4 mile from Shannondale Springs Wildlife Management Area ... a West Virginia facility where hunting is allowed.

It's 1,361 acres and easily accessed off Mission Road, just west of

Mountain Lake Club.
